How do you activate the Travelcard?
At every U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram or bus you will find a yellow or red ticket machine in which you must stamp your card to validate it for that journey. The first time you do this will be the activation date and time of your travelcard. From then, the travelcard will be valid for the duration of your ticket; for 2 or 3 consecutive days. Failure to stamp and validate a journey can result in a fine.
TOP TIP: Although there are no ticket barriers, there are frequent checks by undercover transport officers on the transport networks – so make sure you have validated your travelcard before you travel.
Children under 5 travel for free on the transport network when accompanied by a Berlin Pass holder with valid travelcard.
